02/02/20161/2/2016 – BASIC COURT IN PODGORICA: TV PINK M VIOLATED HONOUR AND REPUTATION OF HRA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Basic Court in Podgorica has ruled in favour of the Human Rights Action’s (HRA) Executive Director, Tea Gorjanc-Prelević, in a dispute against TV Pink M awarding her a thousand euros in damages for violation of honour and reputation. The Court ordered TV Pink M to publish the pronouncement of the judgment when it becomes final.
The Basic Court found that TV Pink M has, within its news programme „Minut, dva“ two times gratuitously released a photo of Gorjanc-Prelević insinuating that she should be imprisoned due to alleged mounting of the S.Č. affair (Moldovan woman victim of sex trafficking), and that she has, together with the international community, allegedly invented the affair in order to influence Montenegrin political situation.
The Agency for Electronic Media of Montenegro has recently found that TV Pink M has by the same report, as well as several other reports within its news programme, conducted a biased campaign to the detriment of Gorjanc-Prelević and HRA, and issued a warning to this media. The Media Self-Regulation Council also found that TV Pink M has on several occasions by reporting on HRA and its Executive Director violated the Code of Ethics of Montenegrin journalists.
The first instance Basic Court in Podgorica judgment (in Montenegrin) is available here.
