Human Rights Action (HRA) proposed lawyer Dalibor Tomović for a member of the Commission for Monitoring Actions of Competent Authorities in Investigations of Old and Recent Cases of Threats and Violence and Murders of Journalists following the public call announced by the Ministry of Interior Affairs on 8 June 2016. Mr. Tomović cooperated with HRA on several projects and provided support to other NGOs as well. He is a lawyer of journalist Tufik Softić who suffered two attempts on his life to date, and also of other victims of human rights violations.

In addition to HRA ten other NGOs supported Mr. Tomović as well:

10. Women’s Rights Centre.

Since 2011 HRA intensively advocated against impunity for attacks on journalists as well as for punishment of all perpetrators of these attacks thanks to the support of the Open Society Foundations (OSF). HRA struggled to access information on investigations of the attacks, proposed measures to competent authorities that were partially adopted, prepared and published reports on the prosecution of attacks on journalists in Montenegro and summary of European standards in relation to positive obligations of the state in relation to attacks on journalists. HRA advocated for the establishment of a Commission for monitoring performance of authorities in investigations of attacks on journalists, than monitored work of that Commission, instigated it to start publishing reports, reported on its work and organised a debate following its two-year long mandate.
