Human Rights Action (HRA) today appealed to the President and members of the Parliamentary Committee for Political System, Justice and Administration to implement their decision to hold a consultative hearing on the proposed amendments to the Media Act, bearing in mind that the Committee unanimously decided already on 7th of December 2015 that it will be held.
HRA supports the maintenance of a broader discussion on the proposed amendments to the Media Act and suggest to call at the consultative hearing the Minister of Culture and Minister of Justice, experts from the media community, academia, NGOs dealing with freedom of expression and other relevant interlocutors. We are ready to contribute to this debate.
HRA reminded the Committee that it has submitted an initiative in this direction together with the proposed amendments to the Media Act already on 10th of November 2015 and that on the 7th of December the Committee decided to hold a debate and that they will “invite all the proponents and competent professionals because of contributing to the improvement and advancement of issues in this field.” (http://www.skupstina.me/index.php/me/odbor-za-politicki-sistem-pravosude-i-upravu/aktuelnosti/item/4615-odrzana-107-sednica-odbora-za-politicki-sistem-pravosude-i-upravu).
