Human Rights Action (HRA) has today submitted a complaint to the Ombudsman of Montenegro regarding the choice of emblem on the Special Police Unit’s uniform, which features an image of a church-chapel on Lovćen.
In a secular, civil state, religious buildings should not be used as symbols on the uniforms of state authorities, which perform public service on behalf of all citizens, regardless of their religious beliefs or political convictions.
We hope that the Ombudsman’s opinion and recommendations will serve as the basis for the abolition of this and all similar discriminatory practices within the work of state authorities.
