16/07/201007/07/2010 Letter of support to Pardon Attorney Budislav Minic
NGO activists (Tea Gorjanc Prelevic, director of Human Rights Action, Daliborka Uljarevic, director of the Center for Civic Education, Stevo Muk, Director of the Alternativa Institute, and Aleksandar Sasa Zekovic, researchers of human rights) sent the letter yesterday to the President and Minister of Justice, with the purpose of supporting the requests for pardon submitted to the President Filip Vujanovic by the family of lawyer Budislav Minic from Kolasin, who has been finally sentenced to four months in prison for alleged embezzlement.
Expecting for the competent court to decide to repeat the proceeding and ensure a fair trial to the defendant Minic, we addressed the President and the Minister in order to prevent sending Mr. Minic to serve his sentence of imprisonment to which he has been convicted, we believe, based on the procedure that failed to provide a fair trial, which we expect to be determined by the European Court of Human Rights, to which Mr Minic filed the application.
